Global Care Quest and Patient Care Technology Systems Announce Strategic Alliance

Companies aim to improve hospital care by integrating and co-marketing patient tracking and clinical information systems

ALISO VIEJO and MISSION VIEJO, Calif. - Healthcare solutions providers Global Care Quest (GCQ) and Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS) today announced a strategic alliance to integrate and jointly market the companies' patient tracking and clinical information systems. Under the agreement PCTS' Amelior™ patient tracking solutions will be integrated with GCQ's ICIS™ Dashboard, an integrated clinical information system for desktop PCs and mobile devices. The two organizations will also coordinate their sales and marketing efforts to provide a comprehensive patient information system to hospitals.

"Easy access to the full range of patient information is critical to quality care," said GCQ Chief Executive Cleve Adams. "The problem is physicians aren't always standing bedside or in front of a hospital's information systems, which can result in delays in critical care decisions. Our partnership with PCTS will allow members of a medical team to view the full scope of information on a patient-from CT Scans, and vitals, to the exact location and care progression-all at the same time from virtually any PC with an Internet connection."

GCQ's ICIS Dashboard automatically collects a broad range of patient information-lab results, physician notes, CT Scans, X-rays, even realtime vital signs from bedside monitors-and presents it on a single screen. The system works both over local networks and the Internet allowing medical team members to view the information both inside the hospital and on the road.

PCTS' Amelior automatic tracking software provides real-time patient location and care progression information to help care givers manage clinical workflows. Patients and equipment wear a positioning tag that enables the software to record and communicate their location. Using rules-based intelligence, patient movement and interactions with staff and equipment are communicated as time-stamped stages of a patient's course of treatment. Working in conjunction with all forms of locating hardware including infrared, RFID, ultra-wideband and Wi-Fi, the tracking system helps caregivers to better manage their workflow, orchestrate department resources and streamline patient flow.

"Busy emergency departments and operating suites are challenged to orchestrate scarce clinical resources to support an increasing volume of patients," said Tony Marsico, CEO of PCTS. "Departments need real-time information on the care status of all their patients to be easily accessible in order to reduce the risk of errors and to streamline patient flow. The GCQ ICIS Dashboard provides a powerful tool to extend the reach of this information."

The two companies expect the ICIS/Amelior integration to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2006.
